24 October 2009 marks the 64 th anniversary of the Foundation of the United Nations Organization (UNO) and is observed world-wide as the United Nations day.The United Nations (UN) was founded in the aftermath of the Second World War by 51 States, including Turkey, with the determination “to save succeeding generations from the scourge war.”[1] It was designed to be a centre for harmonizing the actions of the nations in achieving a better world for all. UNO represents the aspirations and the political will of the peoples from different parts of the world to share a common future based on mutual interests and mutual respect.

The fate of human rights worldwide has been saved from a great sabotage – Reuters revealed that the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) has withdrawn from the race for membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council.One is forgiven for believing that it was the result of the United Nations veto that rendered the IRI out of the election race; for the United Nations considered the IRI as a credible candidate, despite its deplorable human rights record; the Human Rights Council presented no objection to their candidacy.

Historical Background in Ukraine’s Membership Process to NATO
The relationship between Ukraine and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) had moved to a much important level after the collapse of USSR in 1991. Ukraine had become a member of NATO in 1991 and has joined to Partnership for Peace Program in 1994. In 1997 the “Privileged Partnership Charter” took the relationship between Ukraine and NATO into a new partnership level. Furthermore in 2002 Ukraine had declared its desire to join NATO and throughout this declaration a “Membership Action Plan” was prepared.[1]

20th century was the century of the change of traditional warfare system and politics. As the development of technologies, the development of knowledge of human beings resulted in perfection and advancement of weaponry, and military traditions. Some new kind of weapons emerged, such as Weapon of Mass Distraction (WMD) which was very dangerous. In the result many conflicts and disastrous wars happened in the history of mankind. World War I and II would be the perfect example which put a deep trace and effect in the development of establishment of new orders. Aftermath, bipolar system was established with the emergence of two different ideologies, world communities divided into two parts. The establishment of an organization which would keep security and stability in Europe and World was in need and in the result NATO was established and the establishment of NATO really effected in development of the security and the formation of long-term stability in the World.
